Brazil 3-1 Croatia


Brazil beat Croatia in a thrilling first game in the World Cup.

Croatia surprised everyone when they went ahead with an own goal from Marcelo.

Neymar was the outstanding player. He scored two goals.

One was a penalty but Croatia were unlucky. Maybe it wasn't a penalty.

Oscar also scored for Brazil.

13 June 2014 Mexico 1-0 Cameroon

Mexico beat Cameroon in their first game.

Mexico had two good goals disallowed then Giovani Dos Santos scored the winner. Mexico won one-nil (1-0)

Giovani Dos Santos hit the post.


disallowed - not allowed. The referee says it is not a goal.

The winner - the goal that wins the game.

Brazil 0-0 Mexico

Mexico held Brazil to a nil-nil draw, thanks to outstanding saves from the Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

The referee had to use goalline technology to check the ball hadn't gone over the line. 

Mexico had many chances and Brazil were below their best.

18 June 2014 Cameroon 0-4 Croatia

Croatia easily beat Cameroon four-nil. That is the end of Cameroon's campaign.

Coratia went ahead after 11 minutes when Ivica Olic scored before Cameroon were reduced to 10 men when Alex Song lashed out Mandzukic.

Perisic scored the second when the goalkeeper made a mistake. Manduzic scored goal number three with a header.

Manduzic scored his second and Croatia's fourth when he tapped in when the goalkeeper only half stopped a shot.

23 June 2014 Cameroon 1-4 Brazil

Brazil qualified for the last 16 with a convincing win over Cameroon. 

Neymar scored with a superb goal after 17 minutes but Cameroon silenced the crowd soon after with an equaliser.

Neymar scored another superb goal on 35 minutes.

In the second half, goals from Fred and Fernandinho means Brazil finish top of their group.

23 June 2014 Croatia 1-3 Mexico

This game came to life in the last 20 minutes. 

Mexico needed to win to qualify and they scored three goals in ten minutes through Marquez, Guardado and Hernandez.

Croatia pulled one back near the end through Perisic but their campaign is now over.
